Opening hours during Christmas and New Year

Sten’s heat treatment facility in Muurame is open on weekdays as usual during the Christmas and New Year period.

Vacuum hardening, vacuum carburizing, nitriding, salt bath treatments and protective gas hardening operate normally throughout the holiday season.

New tempering furnaces

Tempering is a required process step after hardening. It converts the martensitic structure of the hardened components into tempered martensite and adjusts the hardness to the specified level. It also reduces internal stresses. Without high quality tempering, components would not meet their performance requirements.

In October we commissioned two new tempering furnaces in our vacuum hardening process. These increase our tempering capacity.

Furnace maintenance in January 2026

In carburizing and oil hardening (protective gas), we will carry out annual maintenance on one heat treatment furnace between 2 January and 12 January 2026. During this period, the other heat treatment furnaces used for carburizing and oil hardening remain in normal production. The maintenance affects only one furnace.
