Stén & Co Oy Ab has acquired approximately 89% of the shares in Skandistål AB, a Swedish special steel company. The share purchase agreement was signed on 30 September 2026. The acquisition strengthens Stén & Co’s presence in Sweden and supports the Group’s growth and internationalisation strategy. Following the acquisition, the Group’s pro forma revenue exceeds €80 million.
Skandistål’s founder and CEO, Per Lundqvist, will continue as CEO and remain a minority shareholder with an approximately 11% stake.
Founded in 1999, Skandistål is a special steel specialist. Its business is built on material expertise, close customer relationships and long-term partnerships with selected steel mills. Skandistål’s warehouse and sawing operations are located in Landskrona in southern Sweden. The warehouse holds approximately 2,300 tonnes of steel, and the company saws bars up to 915 mm in diameter. Skandistål supplies bar steel directly from steel mills and delivers machined parts according to customer drawings. Its customers include industrial end users and distributors across Scandinavia.
For Stén & Co, the acquisition is an important step in developing its Nordic business. Over the past ten years, the company has invested in technologies that improve efficiency and increase capacity, and it has completed several acquisitions. Its next milestone is €100 million in revenue. Stén & Co and Skandistål have complementary capabilities, customer bases and supplier networks. Together, they can offer customers a wider range of materials and services.
Skandistål will continue to operate as a Swedish company under its own name. The existing organisation, customer relationships and day-to-day operations will continue as before. The objective is to keep Skandistål’s strengths and give the company more resources for its development.
“Skandistål has built a strong business on special steel expertise, close customer relationships and long-term supplier partnerships. We share these values at Stén. Together, we can offer customers in Sweden and Finland a wider range of materials and services. At the same time, Skandistål keeps its entrepreneurial approach and strong local presence,” says Juho Koskinen, CEO of Stén & Co Oy Ab.
“For more than 25 years, we have built Skandistål together with our employees, customers and suppliers. It was important for us to find an owner who understands our business and takes a long-term view. As part of Stén & Co, Skandistål gains more resources for growth. I will continue to lead the company and remain an owner,” says Per Lundqvist, founder and CEO of Skandistål AB.
The companies will develop cooperation in sourcing, product offering, logistics and customer service. Customers in Sweden will gain access to Stén’s heat treatment services and its stock in Finland. Skandistål’s supplier network in Western Europe and Asia, together with its machining expertise, will complement Stén & Co’s offering in Finland and the other Nordic countries.
